Free Tax help at Darlington County Libraries

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – All four Darlington County Libraries is offering assistance with both South Carolina and Federal tax forms from January through March. 


A staff member of SCThrive will be at Darlington County Libraries to provide one-on-one assistance with your taxes and will electronically file your return for you at the end of the season. 


The assistance is both free and secure. Help is available to anyone making $65,000 or less and those filling jointly that are making $95,000 or less. 
The service is by appointment and will be from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on the dates listed below.

  • Monday, January 25th                        Darlington
  • Wednesday, January 27th                  Society Hill
  • Friday, January 29th                          Lamar
  • Monday, February 8th                        Hartsville
  • Wednesday, February 10th                 Darlington
  • Friday, February 12th                         Lamar
  • Tuesday, February 16th                     Hartsville
  • Tuesday, March 8th                          Darlington
  • Wednesday, March 9th                     Society Hill
  • Tuesday, March 15th                        Hartsville
  • Wednesday, March 16th                   Lamar 

You will need to bring the following items with you to your appointment. 

  • Government issued ID and social security number(s)
  • W-2’s, 1099’s, and/or 1098’s
  • Last year’s tax return (if available) 
  • Information on all income, deductions, and credits

Appointments can be made by calling or visiting the reference/information desk at any of the four Darlington County Libraries.

    ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - One man is dead and another seriously injured after an incident at the Campbell's Soup factory in Maxton Sunday morning.
