Roads in Florence close as fire tears through home Tuesday afternoon

CITY OF FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Smoke could be seen for miles Tuesday afternoon as a structure fire burned on Holloway Lane in Florence.

The City of Florence confirmed that the fire had closed all lanes of Darlington Street, which Holloway Lane makes a horseshoe off of.
Public Information Officer for the City of Florence Fire department, Ken Carr says the fire started around 2:00 p.m.

A photo WMBF News Anchor Ken Baker took at the scene showed a small wood home up in flames, with fire crews and a hose surrounding it. The person who lived in the home was not home at the time of the fire.

When fire crews arrived three quarters of the home were consumed. In addition, several vehicles in the back on the home were burning as well. Right now, it’s not clear what started the fire.

WMBF News crews are on the scene, tune in beginning at 4 p.m. for updates and check back here for more information as it is made available.
