Bitter cold through Tuesday night

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF)  The coldest weather so far this winter will settle into the region Monday night and linger through Tuesday night.

Bitter cold Arctic air will pour into the Carolinas Monday. Temperatures by daybreak Tuesday will drop to around 20 in most areas. Cities west of Interstate 95 will see temperatures drop into the upper teens. A breeze will linger through the night as well. This will send wind chills to between 14 and 18 on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be sunny but very cold with afternoon high temperatures only in the upper 30s.

Another bitter cold night is on tap for Tuesday night with temperatures once again in the lower 20s.

A slow warming trend will send temperatures back to the 40s by Wednesday and 50s by Thursday.

The end of the week will see our next big rain maker moving in. Friday will see periods of rain and milder temperatures near 60. Some of the rain may be heavy at times Friday and Friday night.
