MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach Police recently arrested a man who was wanted for allegedly attempting to rape a woman in May of 2012, according to reports.

Police said they responded to the incident location on May 27, 2012, on Lumber Street, in reference to an attempted sexual assault. Upon arriving, officers met with the victim who had a small cut on her hand. The victim told police, “he bit me.”

Reports say as the victim was leaving her residence, she ran into an acquaintance who introduced her to the suspect.

The victim said she was going to the Alliance Inn and the suspect offered to walk with her, he said he was on his way to meet friends on Dunbar Street. During the walk, the suspect told the victim she was pretty and sexy, and that everything was okay. Once they crossed over 501 and headed north on Cedar Street and approached the Dargan Construction Building, the suspect’s attitude changed and he said, “I’m going to take that and get what I want.”

The suspect then began touching her body, grabbed her, and pulled her behind the building. Reports say the suspect ripped her shorts off as he dragged her behind the building and continued to say, “I’m gonna take that, I get what I want, and I said you were sexy.”

The victim said once he pulled her behind the building, they fell down and she struggled to get away from him. The suspect continued to pull at her clothing, she then attempted to knee or kick the suspect and tried to push him off. The victim said as she tried to push the suspect off with her hands, he bit her on her right hand, according to reports.

A red vehicle drove by during the struggle and the victim yelled “rape” and “help” me several times, however the vehicle drove off.

Police reports say the victim continued yelling for help and the suspect grabbed her arms. One witness said he observed the suspect holding the victim by the arms as she was trying to get away, before the suspect ran on foot.

Myrtle Beach Police arrested Tony Myers, 34, on January 18, 2016, for charges of sexual assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct.
