Man found shot to death in vehicle in Lumberton

LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – A 25-year-old man was found shot to death inside a vehicle in Lumberton on Monday morning, according to a news release from the Lumberton Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle at about 12:24 a.m. Monday, and found Marquese Antonio Nicholson, of Lumberton, in the driver’s seat of a tan car shot multiple times in a yard in the 2100 block of Gavintown Road, the release states.

The Lumberton Police Department is being assisted by the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, according to officials. Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to call Detective Dereck Evans at the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845.

This is the second time this year that a man has been shot and killed in Lumberton. On Wednesday, January 13, 48-year-old Carson Newton was found shot on Whiteville Road. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Justin Marquise Pringle, 21, was charged with four other men in the murder of 74-year-old Johnny Cameron on December 24, 2017 at the victim’s home on Old Georgetown Road in Lake City, according to a news release from the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
