MARLBORO, SC (WMBF) - The Marlboro County Coroner confirmed the body that was recovered Friday morning between James and Brown Street around 11 a.m., is the body of a man who was missing.
Marlboro County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Charles Lemon said the body was found in a canal or ditch area by an investigator with the Marlboro County Sheriff's Department.

Search teams from Wilmington and Myrtle Beach joined with investigators.
Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown confirmed the body is 44-year-old missing man John "Tommy" Grooms.
Brown said an autopsy will take place Saturday at MUSC. There is no information on cause or manner of death at this time.
