HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – About 2,500 Horry Electric Cooperative customers lost power for several hours Thursday afternoon after a malfunction at a substation, according to the company.
The Four Mile substation went out, affecting customers north of Conway, according to a Facebook post sent from the company at about 3:04 p.m. Thursday.
"It will take a while to make repairs and restore power," the post stated.
Power was restored to members served by the substation at about 5:50 p.m., but crews continued to work on the substation to bring it back into service.
"They have a very dangerous and difficult job that takes patience and time," stated an update from the company. "We want all of them to go home safely when their job is done."
