FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A passenger in an SUV died after a tractor-trailer collided with it while it was making a u-turn on Freedom Boulevard in Florence County Thursday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
At about 11:20 a.m., a Ford SUV driven by a 74-year-old woman was making a u-turn on Freedom Blvd. near St. Buelah Road when a tractor-trailer struck the vehicle on the passenger side, according to Corporal Sonny Collins with SCHP.
The passenger in the SUV, identified by the county coroner as 77-year-old Lillie Mae Miller of Timmonsville, died as a result of the collision.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, Cpl. Collins said.
The crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.
