Authorities seeking 44-year-old man missing since January 8

MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a 44-year-old man who has been missing since January 8 or 9, according to a news release.

John Thomas Grooms, "Tommy," of Odom Lane in Bennettsville, was last seen around midnight on January 9 in the James Street area of Bennettsville, possibly walking toward Highway 38 South, according to the release. Grooms has family in the McColl area as well.

Grooms is described by authorities as a Native-American male who stands 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a camouflage jacket.

Anyone with information about Grooms’ whereabouts or anyone who has seen him is asked to call 911 or the MCSO at 843-479-5605 and ask to speak to an investigator.
