HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County Fire responded to a house fire north of Conway Monday morning.
There was fire in the wall and attic of a one-and-a-half-story house in the area of Highway 319 and Highway 701, according to HCFR Battalion Chief Brian Van Aernem.
A man and a woman inside the home were alerted by smoke detectors and the smell of smoke in the house, Assistant Chief Justin Gibbins said. They both evacuated, and the woman went back in to find the source of the smoke, couldn't find it, and called 911.
The fire was ruled as an electrical fire that originated in the breaker box in a wall, Gibbons said. There was significant structural damage within the walls of the 90-year-old home.
