FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Florence Police confirm a suspect believed to have shot at three different vehicles Saturday afternoon has been arrested. Authorities say the incidents happened around 1:10 p.m. The shots reportedly came from a person in a silver Dodge Ram truck, according to Major Carlos Raines with the Florence City Police.
Authorities say the person was arrested following a small chase with police around 9:30 p.m. on Third Loop Road. According to Major Carlos Raines, the suspect crashed their vehicle and was found hiding in a small wooded area.
Raines said what lead to the arrest was an incident involving two vehicles that were traveling west in the 1100 block of Palmetto Street. One of the vehicles was a white Lexus SUV and the other was a black Silverado pick-up, the two vehicles were traveling west side-by-side.
The third vehicle behind them, a silver Dodge Ram truck was trying to get around them, and as a result the Lexus pulled over to the inside lane allowing the truck to come by the vehicle. The truck was described to have possible North Carolina tags and the letter X in the license plate.
The Ram then passed the outside lane, as it did, the driver fired shots at the other driver's window and continued to travel west on Palmetto Street approaching five points, then made a right to go north on Cashua Drive.
Another vehicle on Evans street turned north on Cashua, along with the Ram. The driver of the Ram fired a shot at the car hitting the driver window and striking the victims clothing. The bullet broke the glass and embedded into the passenger side of the door, according to Raines.
Police said the suspect traveled north on Cashua and got to Sumter Street and Chrysler street, the suspect then shot another vehicle.
According to Raines, police attempted a traffic stop around 9:30 p.m. and the Ram took off and went around several streets.
The chase ended on 3rd Loop Road after the truck lost control, hit a curb, and crashed into a tree. Raines said the truck was on fire.
Andrew M Pierson, 26, from Pennsylvania is charged with five counts of attempted murder, five counts of possession of a weapon during violent crime and one count failure to stop for blue lights.
Pierson was transported to the hospital, according to Raines.
