HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said one person has died from multiple gun shot wounds Saturday morning at Grand Strand Medical Center after an altercation at a club. According to Lt. Denis four men have turned themselves in to police.
Horry County Police Officers were called to the night club shooting at 6045 Hwy 905 in the Conway area Saturday. While officers responded they were also dispatched to Highway 22 where a shooting victim was being transported to the hospital by friends before their car broke down.
Officers found the victim and his friends on Hwy 22 and secured the scene until Horry County Fire Rescue could transport the victim to the hospital. The investigation revealed the shooting was a result of an argument between the victim and another man at the club, according to Denis.
Witnesses told police that the shooter and three friends left the scene in an SUV. Detectives quickly found the shooter and his friends after contacting family members.
The victim, Christopher Alexander Sumpter, 31, died from his injuries, according to Hendrick.
Police said all four men surrendered. According to Lt. Denis, the following men have been charged and are presently detained at the Horry County Detention Center:
Devin T. Wilson, 23, from Longs, is charged with Murder.
Devon O. Clark, 22, from Longs, is charged with Accessory after the Fact to Murder.
Leveon J. Edwards, 20, from Longs, is charged with Accessory after the Fact to Murder.
