MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a strong armed robbery that took place at Celebrity Circle Saturday morning, involving a woman who was punched on the ground with a purse wrapped around her, reports say.

Police responded to 1218 Celebrity Circle just before 2:30 a.m. and spoke to the victim who said she was walking to her vehicle with her head down, she then began to open her car door and was approached by the suspects. The suspect grabbed her from under her arm and placed his hands around her neck, pulling her to the ground.

The victim said the suspect then punched her 4-5 times with a closed fist while she was on the ground. While falling to the ground, her purse was wrapped across her body and began falling off, the suspect then took the purse off her body.

The victim said she attempted to fight the suspect off and one of the suspects grabbed her purse off the ground and took $50.00 out.

Reports say the victim told police the suspects took off running west towards 17 bypass on foot, and left her purse behind.

Police said the victim had some swelling in the area were she was assaulted.

The first suspect is described as a black male with dread locks, wearing a black zip up jacket and jeans, age 20-30. The second suspect is described as a black male, age 20-30, wearing all black clothing. Police reports say both suspects are believed to weigh 160-180 pounds.

This investigation is on-going, according to police.
