HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police received complaints of child abuse on December 29 in reference to a woman who tested positive for drugs prior to giving birth, according to Horry County Police.

Reports say a case worker reported the abuse and said the suspect gave birth on December 21 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Prior to the birth, the suspect and victim who reside off Hwy 19 in the Conway section of Horry County were given a routine drug testing, according to reports.

Results of the urine tests showed the suspect and the victim both tested positive for cocaine base.

Police said the victim was also given a U-Cord 12-panel test, which showed the additional presence of opiates and cannabinoids.

Patricia Brummett, 34, is being held at J Reuben Long Detention Center for unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person by legal custodian. No bail is set at this time.
