Several new businesses including a Panera Bread coming to the Grand Strand

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Construction crews break ground on several new restaurants and businesses.

Starting with where Highway 544 meets Highway 17 Bypass, crews are paving the way for a Panera Bread, a Mod Pizza, and EyeMart Express. The corner plot of land is in front of Kohl’s and next to Mattress Firm.

The Area Sales Manager for Mattress Firm, Heather Kish, says they couldn't be happier to welcome new neighbors.

“Visibility for everyone. Guests that are coming in to see us are going to see their businesses, their cliental is going to see our business. It's good for the area it's good for everyone,” Heather Kish said.

Right up the road, towards Highway 544 and Highway 17 Business, more is to come near the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

Crews are laying out the ground work for a new Popeyes, adding to a handful of other businesses in the plaza including Vogue Nails and Spa.

“We need more good restaurants, we need more brand names. During peak season this place is booming. It's unbelievable. This opportunity is here if someone wants to reach out and grab it,” Owner, Pierce Nguyen said.

Right next to the nail salon, is Century 21 Hawkeye. The real estate team there says they're noticing more and more people looking to move to the area for good and neighboring development is yet another sign of the direction our area is headed.

“People are going to go where the jobs are and a lot of people are coming to Myrtle Beach as tourists and then they move down here,” Rachel Shelley explained.

Over on Highway 17 Business, near Harrelson Boulevard, Surf Resortwear is going in and off of Highway 17 and 29th Avenue, a Palm Casual Outdoor furniture store IS relocating.

With all of these new additions, many are hoping for even larger crowds.

“Families, vacationers, people come here in groups. You can’t go wrong here,” Nguyen said.

“…more options for folks and that's a good thing. Options are good,” Kish added.

While every construction site seems to be in the beginning stages…Panera Bread, Mod Pizza, and EyeMart Express are expected to open for business this fall.
