NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - North Myrtle Beach City Council met Monday to discuss amending its tent ban. The changes would allow baby tents as an exception to the tent ban that is currently in effect, according to Public Information Officer Patrick Dowling.
The ordinance says the tents would be no larger than 31 inches tall and 31.5 inches wide. The tents would be used for children 18 months old and younger.
Dowling said, this will be the first reading of an ordinance to amend the current ordinance. It must pass two readings before Council before it becomes a law.
Tents are currently banned on the beach between May 15 and Sept. 15, according to Dowling.
The meeting was held at 7 p.m. Council decided they would need to discuss it more for a second reading that will take place February 4th, which is the final reading.
