MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – New surveillance video released by the Myrtle Beach Airport Monday shows a wild coyote’s frenzied journey through the airport on the morning of Tuesday, December 22, before it was captured at the TSA checkpoint and put down.

Video from outside the airport shows the coyote entering through the baggage handling area at 9:58 a.m., then running through the baggage claim and ticketing areas, populated with travelers, before it was subdued with a taser by Animal Control at the TSA checkpoint at about 10:46 a.m., then taken away by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

The 60-pound animal was put down, according to Sgt. Nate Hudson with DNR. He says they are required to put down nuisance animals once captured.

The coyote’s unlikely appearance went viral and made national headlines on one of the busiest travel days of the season.
