MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Charleston Church Shooting was a massacre that took place at Emanuel AME Church, nine people died in the church, and it was difficult to comprehend. This story is another one that touched many people's lives in 2015.
Police say suspect Dylann Roof joined the church for Bible study then later shot multiple rounds and killed the nine people.
Shortly after the shooting, Governor Niki Haley called for the removal of the Confederate flag from the grounds of the State House.
Roof has been charged with nine counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He also faces federal hate crime charges, for which he faces the death penalty. His trial in state court will start on July 11, 2016.
