New Accent Steel manufacturer may connect to railroad

LORIS, SC (WMBF) - A new stainless steel plant in Loris is set to bring nearly sixty new jobs to the area. Accent Stainless Steel is a Canadian company that is bringing it services to our state, and a spokesman with the Myrtle Beach Economic Development says high paying jobs will come with it. The company is already accepting applications.

The building was set to be finished in early 2016 but was delayed due to area flooding back in October. Another board member and local business owner who operates right next the new site says that this new facility will do great things for Horry County. "We are actively seeking industry for the county of Horry.

Some very good things are happening now and some things to be announced. I'm real pleased with the way that our organization staff works at Myrtle Beach Economic Regional Development. They're doing a very good job." said Legrande Dorman, owner of Carolina Food Services.

Another benefit Dorman says is the potential to bring rail lines to these industries. RJ Corman Railroad Company will be reopening the lines in Loris and throughout Horry County, and that could mean big business for the community. "You can bring in freight at a very economical rate. And it would put us in a position where we could sell it better and would have less transportation costs." said Dorman. RJ Corman says they are currently working out a deal to bring the rail lines through the Loris industrial complex.
