Flood warning issued for Black Creek in Florence Co. beginning Thursday

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Black Creek area in Florence County beginning Thursday.

As of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Black Creek was at 8.64 feet, below the 10-foot flood stage, but it is expected to rise to minor flood stage by Thursday, according to a release from the Florence County Emergency Management. The forecast shows the creek cresting Saturday afternoon at 12.3 feet.

The Florence County Emergency Management Division is monitoring the situation, and encouraging residents living near the creek to check their surroundings and take any action they believe is necessary to ensure their safety.

As the creek levels rise, residents should see floodwaters affecting Creekside Drive and East Black Creek Road, with water nearing a few homes, FCEMD stated.
