WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect that attempted to cash checks that belonged to the victim at a local bank. The Sheriff's Office said it could be connected to an armed robbery that took place December 17, according to Alex Edwards with the Williamsburg Investigations Division.
Deputies responded to 1628 Hemingway Highway December 17 at approximately 8:30 p.m. for reports of an armed robbery. Upon arriving, deputies spoke to the male and female victim. The victims told deputies the suspect was armed with a handgun, wearing all black clothing, including a black ski mask. The suspect made contact with the victims outside of the residence and demanded money.
Investigators were told the suspect threatened to kill the male if he didn't follow commands. The suspect then ordered the male inside the residence and demanded additional money from the female victim before fleeing the scene, according to reports.
