LORIS, SC (WMBF) – According to police, a 20-year-old man from Nakina, North Carolina was arrested and charged Sunday for allegedly striking a man on the head with a gun and robbing him of his wallet and phone Saturday night in Loris.
On December 20, at 9:30 p.m., Horry County Police officers responded to a call in reference to an armed robbery that had occurred 15 minutes earlier.
According to police, the victim stated he went to a house on Edwards Road in Loris, SC, to pick up a female friend. Another female and 20 year-old Don Sherrill Maness III, from Columbus County, North Carolina, got into the backseat of his vehicle to go to the Time Saver store to buy drinks.
After returning to the residence the victim stated the two females got out of the vehicle. Then Maness put a very long-looking gun to his head and demanded that he give him his wallet and phone. The victim stated after he refused, Maness hit him in the side of the head with the gun, according police.
The victim stated he gave Maness his phone and wallet after hearing what he thought to be the safety of the gun click.
The victim stated Maness threatened him to never come back to the residence.
Upon arrival at the residence, officers noticed what looked to be the victim's phone and found the victim's wallet on Maness, who was apparently hiding behind a shed on the property, according to the report.
Maness is charged with possession of firearms and ammunition, armed robbery, robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, assault, assault & battery 2nd degree, and unlawful store keep, possession machine gun or sawed-off shotgun or rifle.
