Myrtle Beach girls advance to Holiday Invite Semis

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach Seahawk girls basketball team is making a little school history this year, on its way to the semifinals of the Crescom Bank Holiday Invitational after coming back to top Archer High School out of Georgia on Saturday night. It will be the first appearance in the semifinals for the girls, who will face St. Francis - another school from Georgia - on Monday night at 6:45 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Through two games in this year's tournament, the Seahawks have beaten Christ the King out of New York and Archer to move to 11-0 overall on the year. They are being led by Nia Sumpter and Keocia Walker, who are averaging 12 and 14.5 points per game, respectively.

Regardless of Monday's outcome, the Seahawks will close tournament play Tuesday afternoon. The third place game tips at 12:30 with the championship slated for 2:15.
