TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A 55-year-old man was arrested Monday night in Chester County and charged with the murder of a 42-year-old woman found dead in Timmonsville on Saturday.
Alfred Bishop is charged with the murder of 42-year-old Paula Hodges, according to Timmonsville Police Chief Gregory Palmer. Bishop was in a relationship with Hodges and living with her at her home on New Street in Timmonsville.
Chief Gregory Palmer with the Timmonsville Police Department said the coroner confirmed the cause of death is asphyxiation caused by strangling.
According to police, Hodges' body was found after a family member called to have police check on her.
Palmer said Timmonsville Police is investigating with assistance from Florence County, Williamsburg County, and Johnsonville PD. SLED and the US Marshals Office is also involved.
Chief Palmer said he was picking Bishop up from Chester County on Tuesday. Bishop will also be charged with use of vehicle without owner's consent for driving Hodges' vehicle to flee to Chester County after the alleged murder.
