Holiday Travel Tips

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Many families traveling for the holidays will be picking this weekend to drive or fly. If you do plan to travel, there are still some tips that will make your trip less stressful.

  • DON’T wrap you’re gifts before your flight. The TSA will most likely need to check inside any kind of package to make sure there are no safety concerns.
  • Avoid liquids. Any bottles containing more than three ounces of liquid will not be allowed on flights.
  • Keep track of your flight schedule and try to arrive to the airport two hours ahead of time. If you plan to drive, make sure you’re aware of all construction zones where traffic may be backed up.

According to Trip Advisor, 33% of Americans will be traveling during the holiday season, and one study showed that the busiest day of the travel season is December 23rd, while the least busy is December 27th. An airport spokesman with Horry County Airports also says that one of the hottest holiday items, the hover board, has been banned at most airports due to hazardous material.
