Conway Police arrest auto burglary suspect

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A suspect in several auto burglaries was recognized by a witness from his image on Facebook, and was seen trying to break into another vehicle in Conway. Officers responded and arrested him at the scene, according to a Conway Police news release.

Donovan McManus, 18, was arrested and is being charged with nine counts of breaking to motor vehicle between December 15 and December 17.

On Thursday, officers responded to the Coastal Club Apartments, where a witness said they had recognized the suspect from Facebook, and saw him attempt to enter another vehicle. Officers located McManus on scene and he was arrested.

On December 16, the Conway Police Department responded to a burglary auto at Coastal Club Apartments, located at 630 highway 544 in Conway. According to the CPD, officers were advised a vehicle had been broken into. A white male is seen in surveillance footage breaking into a vehicle on December 15, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. Conway Police posted this image on their Facebook page and alerted the local media.

Officers were called to the area of Carver Street, Washington Street and King Street in the City of Myrtle Beach after 3:00 a.m. Friday, according to Sergeant Steven Clothier. Five or six shots fired is what was reported in the original call, Clothier said, several casings were on the ground near the Cover Apartments.
