FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Three teenagers have been arrested for a string of robberies around the Florence area Wednesday night, a Florence Police official confirmed.
Danielle Pridgen, 19, James Lorenzo Carter, 18, and Charles Lee Cooke, 18, were booked into the Florence County Detention Center early Thursday morning and charged with armed robbery, according to the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
At about 8:53 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 2600 block of Ascot Drive in Florence, according to Captain Michael Nunn with FCSO. The victim said he, his wife and his children were returning home from church and had pulled into their driveway when a suspect emerged from behind shrubbery and demanded money from them at gunpoint. The suspect then fled on food.
Deputies, the FCSO Tracking Team and the Criminal Enforcement Unit commenced an extensive manhunt in the Windsor Forest and Grove Park areas, according to Captain Nunn.
FCSO later received reports of two similar robberies in other parts of the county. One of the robberies provided authorities with a specific description of the suspect vehicle.
While investigating, a lieutenant with the CEU stopped a vehicle matching the description on Platt Street. The stop resulted in the discovery of evidence related to the robberies, and the three suspects were arrested.
Under South Carolina law, armed robbery is punishable by 10 to 30 years in prison.
