SCOTLAND, NC (WMBF) – The Scotland County Public Health Department confirmed four people have been quarantined for tuberculosis.
The Health Department issued isolation orders for four people to stay at home until they are no longer infectious. The four had ignored previous orders to remain at home and will now face criminal charges if they violate the quarantine. according to Interim Director Wayne Raynor.
This is the sixth TB case in one year, typically Scotland County sees one case a year or none, according to Raynor.
Raynor said the residents infected were in and about in the community, which put other people at risk.
