HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The traffic signal at US-17 Bypass and Glenns Bay Road was hanging in the roadway Tuesday, blocking mainly northbound lanes of US-17 Bypass Tuesday afternoon, according to a county official. SCDOT said the issue is now cleared.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol was directing traffic at the intersection, and it would take several hours for the signals to become operational again, according to county spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier.
Motorists were advised to avoid the intersection and use alternate routes. Bourcier was not sure what caused the traffic light to go down.
The SCDOT was showing traffic delayed in both directions around the intersection.
