Hartsville Christmas Parade returns for the community

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – The Hartsville Christmas Parade will return to the city, every year the community brings more than 60 of the area’s bands, schools, churches, businesses and dance teams. 

The parade will take place December 12, at 10:30 a.m. and begin on South Fifth Street and end on West Carolina Ave. The Hartsville Farmers Market is happening at the same time of the parade, participants will follow a slightly different route than previous years. 

According to the City of Hartsville, the parade will leave from the Newsome Warehouse parking lot near 670 S. Fifth St. and proceed north on South Fifth Street. The parade will turn right onto Laurens Avenue, just before Applebee’s, and turn left onto South Fourth Street past the Fairfield Inn. The parade will continue on Fourth Street, past the Hartsville Farmers Market on East Carolina Avenue, and will turn left two blocks later onto East Home Avenue. The route will then turn left again onto North Fifth Street, alongside the Hartsville Museum, and right onto West Carolina Avenue. It will then end at Thornwell School for the Arts, 437 W. Carolina Ave.

    Conway Pastor Phillip Miles was arrested Thursday by TSA for carrying an unloaded pistol into Myrtle Beach International Airport. According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center’s website, Miles was charged with carrying weapons into restricted places and was released on $500.00 bond.

    One person has died after an accident on U.S. 17 South early Saturday morning. According to Jed Jones with South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pick-up truck was traveling on U.S. 17, when it ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned around 1:55 Saturday morning. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
