SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WMBF) –The Scotland County Criminal Investigation Division was notified of an assault that occurred at an address on Rush Road in Laurel Hill, NC, on November 27, according to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
According to police, the victim, Calvin Adams, sustained severe head trauma. Adams was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital and later transported to Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
On December 2, a 17 year-old male was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill along with 23 year-old, Daemonte Harris, who was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
Adams died on December 8 as a result of the injuries sustained from the assault.
According to police, on December 10, the 17 year-old was charged with second degree murder and placed in the Scotland County Detention Center under a no bond release. His first court date is set for December 11.
