HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – Kalmia Gardens of Coker College ranked number 41 of the 50 most beautiful college arboretums in the country, according to Best College Reviews, an independent college review journal.

The ranking was based on the size of the arboretum, size of the collection, how long the garden has been established, opportunities for college students and connection with the community.

Director of Kalmia Gardens, Mary Ridgeway said, “I am thrilled to have Kalmia Gardens recognized in the national arena. Our staff works hard to maintain this unique ecosystem and it is a gift that Coker College shares freely with all who enter within the gates.”

Kalmia Gardens, a 35-acre public botanical garden, is open from dawn until dusk 365 days a year.
