FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Florence Police are still searching for three suspects following an alleged armed robbery Monday night at the market on West Palmetto Street.

The store employee was walking to his car right after closing down the business when three men approached him and one had a gun demanding him to go back inside.

Investigators says the suspects ran from the back of the building all wearing masks. The store employee told them the alarm was activated but they went inside anyway. Police say the suspects then took money out of the register and ran from the store once the alarm went off.

Major Carlos Raines with the Florence Police Department says, “That’s why we provide this information as soon as we can so if there is anyone out there that chooses to, they can provide us with whatever information they may have and we’ll go forward with that in the investigation.”

Raines continued saying, “We certainly want to get the people who were responsible for this, they have to be held accountable for what they’ve done, and its very important that no one was hurt, so we depend on the public a great deal to try to help us with solving these types of things that happen.”

The Markette manager said they are thankful the alarm went off and the employee was okay. A nearby business manager, DJ Reynolds says this is a well-lit area and is typically quiet around that time of night. “Of course everybody is questioning it and hoping that it never happens to us, but knowing that it happened right here in our backyard it could have easily happened to us too," Reynolds said.

Reynolds says it’s an uneasy feeling knowing the suspects ran right by their building. “Its not exactly what you want to hear when they could have been coming into our business too or anybody else’s business here in the Florence area.”

All three suspects are described as being in their late teens or early 20’s. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of any of the suspects in the surveillance photos, you are asked to call the FPD at (843)-665-3191.
