MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police officers responded to a burglary at a business Monday night after a man allegedly stole a chainsaw from a warehouse, then took off running with it, according to a police report.

The victim said that a witness observed the suspect leave the business warehouse with a red chainsaw. The witness tried to confront the suspect who ran off with the chainsaw, then both witnesses chased after him.

One of the witnesses stopped the suspect and detained him until police arrived, the report states. Another witness said the suspect ran through back yards and was caught by police off Highway 15, according to police reports.

The victim told police he was missing his 9mm handgun that was in a safe location at the warehouse.
