GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – A 68-year-old Lane man was killed in the fatal multi-car accident on Highway 521 in Georgetown Monday night.
Georgetown County Coroner Kenneth Johnson said the preliminary autopsy results show Samuel Holmes died from multi-trauma sustained in the accident.
South Carolina Highway Patrol leaders said the crash happened just before midnight on US 521, near Eight Oaks Park on Monday.
Lance Corporal Hannah Wimberly reports the driver of a 2007 Nissan was traveling northbound in the southbound lane when the driver sideswiped three other cars in its path a Ford pickup truck, a BMW and a GMC truck.
Wimberly said the driver of the Nissan was killed, and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Wimberly said the driver of the Ford pickup did sustain injuries in the collision, but are unknown at this time.
The SCHP is still investigating the accident.
