MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Clemson Tigers remain the top-ranked team in the nation, and will face fourth-seeded Oklahoma on December 31st in the Orange Bowl, one of college football's national semifinals.
The Tigers keep the top spot in the playoff rankings after beating North Carolina 45-37 on Saturday night to claim the ACC Championship. It is the first appearance for Clemson in just the second year of the College Football Playoff.
Oklahoma is 11-1 and Big 12 Champions. The game will be a rematch of last year's Russell Athletic Bowl, which the Tigers won 40-6 without quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was recovering from ACL surgery.
The other semifinal pairs second-seeded Alabama to face three seed Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl at five o'clock on New Year's Eve. The winners of those two games will meet in the National Championship on January 11th at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
