SOCASTEE, SC (WMBF) - Students from Socastee High School will celebrate their cultural diversity by celebrating the first World Culture day.
The World Culture day will be held Friday, December 11, from 10-11 a.m. at the Socastee High School Commons. This event will feature world dishes along with songs from countries such as, Hungary, China, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Vietnam.
Javier Vega, one of the schools ESOL (English Spoken as Other Language) teachers, states: "The Socastee area is currently seeing a great deal of growth in businesses owned by immigrants along the 707 corridor. Stands to reason, that this culturally diverse growth is reflected within the school's student body."
