CCU volleyball ends season with 25-5 record

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team lost to Creighton Friday 3-1 in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. They ended their season with a 25-5 record.

Coastal ends their season with the best winning percentage (.833) in program history. Creighton improves to 26-8 overall and advances to Saturday’s second round match where it will face the winner of North Carolina and UNC Wilmington, according to CCU Sports.

Sophomore outside hitter Leah Hardeman led Coastal Carolina with a career high of 27 kills. Creighton appeared to be in full control of the game and led by as many as seven points in the opening set.

CCU earned its NCAA Championship berth by defeating seventh-seeded Campbell in three sets in the Big South Championship after going 14-0 in conference play during the regular season. The Chanticleers made their fourth NCAA postseason appearance in program history, according to Big South Sports.

The Chants finished with six aces and didn't give up a single one to Creighton. Coastal's biggest advantage was serving.
