MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 19-year-old pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of a 17-year-old in Marion County in 2013, according to court records.

Arthur Douglas Foxworth, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter after shooting and killing 17-year-old Bryan Malik Crawford on Presbyterian Street in the City of Marion on the afternoon of Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Foxworth had just purchased the gun and was showing it off, according to Florence County Solicitor Edgar Clements. Foxworth was showing it off and did not know how to handle it, and it went off and killed Crawford, Clements said.

On November 12, 2015, Foxworth pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, a lesser charge, and was sentenced to five years in prison, with credit for 56 days served. He is currently being held at the Kirkland Correctional Facility in Columbia, according to South Carolina Department of Corrections Records.
