FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Florence County Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) is being started to assist those affected by the flooding in October. The LTRG is a collaborative effort of government agencies, non-government organizations, faith based groups, and other community partners, according to a news release from Andrew Golden, Florence County Emergency Management Public Information Officer.
The group is still in the development phase, but plans to start helping residents and communities in creating long-term recovery plans from their losses by January 2016.
The Florence County LTGR will appeal to community civic groups, volunteer agencies, the Chamber of Commerce and community members to give their time to assist in providing construction supplies, rebuild and repair activities, spiritual care and local economic growth. Individual and community physical, social, economic and spiritual well-being is what the group hopes to maintain.
Lou Palm of the Eastern South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross chairs the Florence County LTRG. He can be reached at (843)-602-4928.
