Funeral held for teen killed in Bennettsville 4-wheeler accident

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Police are investigating after a teen was killed in a four-wheeler accident Wednesday evening at Crestview Drive and Kinney Circle in Bennettsville. 

Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown identified the 14-year-old boy who was killed as William Rogers III.

Bennettsville Police Chief Larry McNeil says there are no further details at this time regarding the accident. 

According to the online obituary, Rogers was a freshman at Marlboro County High School and a member of the Marlboro County High School football and baseball teams. He had a passion for baseball and loved playing for the Richmond Rockies. He loved being outdoors and spending time at the beach. 

A funeral service is scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Scott Andrews. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bennettsville. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
