Police locate wanted Georgetown man; arrest 4 people for resisting arrest and drug charges

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 28-year-old wanted fugitive from Georgetown was located and arrested by the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit and the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office I.C.E. team on Kent Road in Georgetown Tuesday afternoon. Four additional people were arrested and a significant amount of marijuana was recovered in the process, according to a news release from the GCSO.

Franklin L. McCants was found hiding between a bed and a wall in the bedroom portion of an RV at 261 Kent Road.

McCants arrest Thursday on Kent Road resulted in additional warrants for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute marijuana and resisting arrest. Before Thursday, there were already 10 warrants for McCants’ arrest due to McCants’ flight on November 19, where an agent was injured in a traffic accident, and the investigation at the Roadway Inn in the City of Georgetown.

The following four individuals, who each tried to deceive the agents of McCants’ presence, were found inside the RV with McCants and were charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and resisting arrest:

  • Milton Ronnie Byrd, age 18, of Georgetown
  • Candace Faith Jordan, age 19, of Georgetown
  • Joshua Rodney Pevey, age 24, of Georgetown
  • Alyssa Marie Thompson, age 18, of Andrews
