Laurinburg police arrest man wanted for attempted murder

LAURINBURG, NC (WMBF) - Laurinburg Police announced Tuesday the arrest of a man who was wanted for shooting another man in October.

Hikeem Covington was in a verbal argument October 11 with two victims, struck one in the head with a pistol, then shot him. 

According to police, Covington was arrested in Marietta, GA by local police. He is now awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

Covington will be charged with the following charges once in Laurinburg: Attempted murder, possession of firearm by felon, assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun, discharging firearm in the city limits.
