MARION, SC (WMBF) – A 24-year-old Marion man has been charged by the Marion Police Department with a total of six counts of financial transaction card fraud and one count of theft from a motor vehicle, according to Marion Police Department Chief Dewayne Tennie.
Derrell Wiggins was arrested by the Marion Police Department on Friday, November 6, 2015 around 1 p.m.
Wiggins arrest also led to him being charged by the Marion County Sheriff's Department for several counts of breaking into motor vehicles.
One of the victims contacted the Marion Police Department at 10:45 a.m. on November 6, in reference to a debit card being stolen from their automobile on November 3.
The victim provided the investigators with the locations and times that the debit card was used.
The investigators were able to obtain video footage of the transactions a short time later and identified the suspect as Derrell Wiggins.
Warrants were then issued for Wiggins for two counts of financial transaction card fraud and he was located and arrested shortly afterwards by the MPD.
After interviewing Mr. Wiggins it was determined that he had also broken into a vehicle within Marion City limits and stole various items from that vehicle.
Wiggins also used a separate debit card belonging to another victim at several locations within the city limits and was also charged with four counts of financial transaction card fraud as a result.
