Report of shots fired near Florence Co. school bus stop under investigation

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Allegations of one or more shots being fired near a school bus stop in Florence County are being investigated by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Captain Mike Nunn confirmed.

According to reports, around 8:30 Wednesday morning Florence County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Carver Street. Deputies said the caller heard between one and two shots go off.

Investigators said those shots were allegedly fired nearby a bus stop and just feet from a school.

Florence School District One said the R.N. Beck Center was placed on locked down shortly after finding out those shots were fired.

No students were injured, and after getting the all-clear from law enforcement. the school resumed with its day-to-day activities.

“I heard gunshots out there. A lot of police went straight through Carver Circle and we are concerned in our neighborhood,” said Faye Thomas Burgess, who lives in the area.

At this time, no arrests have been made.
