Hartsville teen faces attempted murder charge after burglary at Darlington Co. residence

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A 17-year-old Hartsville teenager was arrested on November 13, 2015 after exchanging gun fire when he tried to break into a residence on Broad Lawn Avenue in Hartsville.

Brandon Gudnason, of Pond Hollow Road, was charged with first degree burglary, possession of weapon during the commission of a violent crime, attempted murder, and shooting into a dwelling and larceny, according to a news release from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.  

Deputies responded to the residence in the Hartsville area of Darlington County regarding a burglary.  The homeowner of the residence told deputies they confronted the individual who was trying to break into their residence. 

During the confrontation gun fire was exchanged, however no one was injured, and the individual fled on foot.  

During a search of the area, deputies identified the suspect involved as Gudnason.
