MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - It's Friday which means it's time to dish out the scores the Department of Health and Environmental Control handed down to some local restaurants this week.
The very popular Bagel Factory on North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach scored a 79.
DHEC Inspectors noted a number of maintenance issues for the restaurant. They posted some pictures on their report showing slicers and utensils being stored in dirty areas with buildup of old foods and debris. According to the report, this was corrected.
The report said the walls, ceiling tiles and floors are in poor repair. They have either been broken or have susatiend water damage. Inspectors also reported dirty floors and walls throughout the facility.
"The score is a result of projects to update and fix the interior of the store. The employees are constantly trained to DHEC standards," Bagel Factory Owner Patricia Flynn said Friday.
A pair of Grand Strand eateries, Akel's Family Restaurant and Bei Jing, both scored 88.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit in North Myrtle Beach got a 99.
Last but not least, the Borgata located in Surfside Beach got a perfect score.
