Street closings scheduled for Bridge2Bridge Half-Marathon on November 14 in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – According to the Georgetown Police Department, the city of Georgetown will close the following streets to facilitate the 5th Annual Bridge2Bridge Half-Marathon, 12K and 15K, on November 14.

  • Front Street – Front Street will be closed from Fraser Street to Greenwich Drive from 
    4:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. Front Street from Fraser Street to Queen Street will remain closed until 12:00 p.m. Front Street from Queen Street to Greenwich should reopen by 8:30 a.m.
  • East Bay, Greenwich Drive, Highmarket Street, and Duke Street- Portions of these roadways will be closed from 6:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.
  • St. James Street-St. James will be closed from Church Street to Front Street from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • Hwy 17- Hwy 17 Northbound will be closed from Cannon Street to just South of Hobcaw-Barony. Hwy 17 Southbound will handle North and Southbound traffic from Cannon Street to just South of Hobcaw-Barony. These conditions will be in effect from 4:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
  • Prince Street- Prince Street will be closed from Fraser Street to St. James from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
  • Cleland Street- Cleland Street will be closed from Prince Street to Front Street from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
  • Hwy 17 (Fraser Street) - Hwy 17 southbound will handle North and Southbound traffic from Prince Street to Martin Street. Hwy 17 Northbound will be closed from Martin Street to Prince Street. These conditions will be in effect from 4:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
  • Cravens Grant – Cravens Grant subdivision will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
    This closure will also involve Harrelson Street from Hwy. 17 to Oak Street.
  • West End Residents – Access to Fraser Street will be limited to Front and Butts Streets from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Bayview Residents – Due to the closure of Hwy. 17 Northbound (Sampit Bridge), Bayview residents will need to use Oak Street to Martin Street for access to Hwy. 17 North and Southbound. Harrelson Street from Oak to Hwy. 17 will be closed.

Traffic will be allowed to flow within the Historic District on Broad and Highmarket Streets. Closed roads will be secured by a combination of police officers and volunteers. The GPD is asking the public to be patient and watch for traffic control personal to help them navigate.
