FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - An armed robbery is one step closer to being solved after a victim taken during an alleged crime was recovered.

“They wanted to choose between two males, so I brought three puppies with me. They got out of the car and looked at the puppies for a minute and then I turned around and there was a gun pointed in my face. The guy said you know what time it is and he took my puppies out of my hand,” said the victim who did not want to be identified.

Police said that crime happened 12 days ago outside of Ashley Furniture Store.

Florence Police said the victim is a breeder out of North Carolina, and just days ago she was online when she noticed a dog that resembled one taken from her. The online ad said the dog could be picked up in Georgia.

“The investigator who was assigned to this case immediately got in touch with law enforcement in Georgia, where the people were supposed to be at… who were trying to sell this dog. In turn they were able to get in contact with the person who had the dog,” said Major Carlos Raines with Florence Police.

Right now, police are not certain how that individual got the dog, but do not believe he was one of the suspects who robbed the victim.

The victim said she is thankful police were able to get one of the dogs back.

She said she learned a valuable lesson in all of this.

“If you are going to breed and sell puppies you have got to meet at a safe place. I suggest the police department, that’s where I am going from now on,” the victim said.

“You need to be extremely careful when you are conducting that type of business over the internet and meeting people,” Raines said.

Police said there are still two other similar dogs like this one out there.

If you know anything about this case you are asked to contact Florence Police.
