SCEMD surveys flood damage in Mullins

MULLINS, SC (WMBF) - Representatives with South Carolina's Emergency Management Division were in Mullins Monday surveying flood damage from last week's rainfall.

They are helping Marion County officials fill out damage assessment reports, as well as touring the affected areas, according to SCEMD spokesperson Derrec Becker.

He said that if damage meets a certain threshold, residents in the area could qualify for assistance. However, if would be separate from flooding disaster assistance given to victims after heavy rain in October because this was a separate weather system.

The survey report could take several days to complete depending on how significant the damage is.

The city of Mullins received over 5" of rain last Wednesday morning. Two to three feet of water was reported across Front Street in Mullins due to the heavy rain. Church Street and numerous other roads around Mullins were also closed for a while last week.
